In this article I will attempt to explain how to make an effective sales call. This article assumes that you will be using a contingency contract, much like the one described in the article "How to Get the Most Out of Your Roofing Company."
This is not an article that explains how to get a homeowner to let you on their roof, instead it picks up right after that, and will show you how to earn their business once you have found adequate damage.
When you arrive at the homeowners house, do not spend much (if any) time explaining to them how you do business. Instead, introduce yourself briefly, and then ask them if you can get on the roof. Make sure you take pictures of anything that indicates hail on the roof. Check the gutters and vents for dings, as well as the shingles for hail and wind damage. Once you have inspected the roof, get down and show what you have found to the homeowner. After you have shown them the damage on their roof, say these words exactly,
" I do believe that we have an excellent chance of the insurance company replacing your roof. What I have is a simple agreement that just says, I will file your Claim for you, and I will get on your roof with the insurance company and do everything that I can to get them to replace it, all that I ask is that if I get them to pay for the roof that I can have the work. Does that sound fair?...."
The key here is to explain your agreement to them and then ask them if they think it is fair, if they say yes, then you should immediately pull out your contingency agreement and start filling it out. You will ask them for their name, address etc. and then lastly you will hand it to them to sign. You of course fully assume that they will sign it because they just agreed to it verbally. This will remove any awkwardness that either of you may feel in regards to contracts, as well as help you to assume the sale.
Once you have gotten their signed contract you should get their insurance information and file the claim right there with them. This eliminates the possibility of them forgetting to file the claim themselves, or just choosing not to do so.
If you can master these things, you should see a great increase in your sales. If this article was helpful you can find more like it at www.rooferstelemarketing.com
